Thanks for the info, but do you think that if I wait a couple months more to upgrade... I will not face any kind of issues with the drivers? Or I will have to go thru the same thing every time a new update comes? I need to get all the details before willingly commit to one OS ;)

Not all machines will have problems,THE MAJORITY WILL NOT.

Some people are running older machines, and the inbuilt hardware will be to old to
    accept windows 10.

    Reasons

It's down to the computer manufacturers to update their drivers, some don't want
to put the effort in THEY WANT YOU TO BUY A NEWER ONE.

Thanks, I always end up buying a new laptop after 5 or 6 years (usually by that time the laptop is already showing signs of distress). Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my questions, that is so nice of you and I truly appreciate it. So... the real question for me now is... what should I do with my old laptops?? Is there a way I can safely dispose them??

Remove the hard drive “two reasons” so others don't recover your information later
the other reason is so you can properly erase the information on it,and use it as a backup drive later.

Remove the ram for the same reason possible to use it later.

Your local authority will have a process that will take care of the rest.
