    Re: Custom desktop script

1 The key combo used to work before the desktop change, I would execute the crtl-alt-esc and then click the window to kill, it no longer works.
    2 OK
3 I can use alt-f4 to close a window, alt f9 to roll up a window, but I want to know where these key combos are set.

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: Custom desktop script

First of I want to thank k0ro for this awsome script, really helps a novice linux user like me.

Well Im going to fire of a few questions:
    1. Were do I find the settings panel that gets me more than one "desktop/workspace" ? sorted
    2. I want to activate some but not all of the animated stuff in Compiz e.g. a animation that tells me that Im swaping to another "desktop/workspace". But It dosent seem to work ?!
    3. Whats the simplest way to get themes ?
    4. Lets say I wanted this theme, is it going to work and if so how do I get it installed ?
(if it dosent work Id like a simulat theme any suggestions :p) ?

    ...

My bad :). xkill is in the xorg-x11-apps package along with other apps. You can install it with:
    # yum install xorg-x11-apps

When it's installed, you can display what the package contains with:
    # rpm -ql xorg-x11-apps

I'm sorry but I don't know yet where the keybinds are set...

    Re: Custom desktop script

Ok, I tried going to the Downloads directory first, then doing the sudo su - command, but that seemed to step me out of the directory again, and could not access the script file.....

I tried a variant on the instructions, trying to get the root permission, but now it appears that there is something wrong with the addresses that the script refers to because now I am getting errors that livna mirrors date and repository were not accessible, etc.

What on Earth am I doing wrong? I had done a clean-wipe from the CD, as recommended by otheres - it went fine - what gives?

    Re: Custom desktop script

Fedora's servers are having big problems. Software updates from Fedora are not available right now.
{NOTE} This does NOT apply to Acer's Live Update.

    Re: Custom desktop script

you have to go to /etc/yum.repos.d/ and edit the fedora repo files, get the # away in front of the base urls.

    Re: Custom desktop script

    Tkanks for your work!
    I'll try it tomorrow....

Just a question... is everything working with your script?

    1) Wi.fi and wi.fi led
    2) The IM acer messenger ... (and without the easy mode, how i can start it)
    3) Acer contact, email, etc (not so important)
    4) web cam (specially skype and amsn with webcam)

    5) .......

    Re: Custom desktop script

And what exactly will this do?

Also, do I need to edit each file in that folder in this way or which specific ones?

    Thank you for the help.

    Re: Custom desktop script

I dont know, but after that it works, i saw this method at an fedora 8 forum, and it worked for me though.

    you have to edit fedora-development, fedora-updates, fedora-updates-testing and fedora.repo
in order to edit these you have to have edit permissions and enter thunar in root.
    Open your terminal

    *then type this:

    su

    *then type your password
    *then enter this:

    sudo thunar

then you can go to /etc/yum.repos.d/ and edit al the baseurls

    Re: Custom desktop script

    1) works fine.
    2) don't use it. pigin IM.
    3) use claws OK to me - gmail and Yahoo
    4) Skype audio is OK, but no video - I will die long before I ever feel the need to use amsn :)

Edit - just to be a bit clearer on these points.
On 2) acer IM is removed by the script and Pigin IM replaces it.
On 3) email is dealt with by using Claws email, the preloaded.acer stuff has been removed.

See the first post in this thread.
