One of my friends gave me their old Sony VAIO laptop to work on, and offered me some money for my time. They wanted it upgraded to Windows 8. Simple, I thought. Nope! I got Windows 8 in, restarted it to check and see how it was working, and the next thing I know, I see the logo and the screen goes black! There was no error message, no nothing. Is it a problem with Windows? The laptop? Did I mess up the installation? Has this ever happened to anyone else and is there some way to fix it? Please let me know- I don't want to have to tell my friend that I destroyed his computer!

Uh OH. I wouldn't know what to tell you, but I hope you can get some help from some of the people here. I would feel very nervous, but I would explain to your friend what happened and ask he or she what they want you to do.
