I am not the greatest typist so I take my eyes off the screen a fair bit to look at the keyboard. If you are like me you also must know what its like to finish a sentence or two after inadvertantly hitting caps lock without realizing it. Sure there is that little light up on the top left between keyboard and screen when the caps lock is on,but that certainly doesnt help me much. A short beep would though . I hope others like this idea, since it is obviously something which could be easily done.

yES INDEED, "cAPS lOCK" IS DEFINITELY A MAJOR CAUSE OF "MODE ERRORS" IN KEYBOARD USAGE,
AND ITS INCLUSION ON MODERN KEYBOARDS IS BROADLY CONSIDERED TO BE AN INHERITED MISTAKE.
tHANKFULLY IT CAN BE DISABLED WITH:
    xmodmap -e "remove lock = Caps_Lock"
    See: http://www.peterbe.com/Disable-Caps-Lock-in-Linux
    Best, -Duncan ;)
